In the decade after, inspired by People Power's and Cory Aquino's non-violent example, Communist or military rule was swept away in countries across the globe, from Latin America and Eastern Europe, to Africa and Asia. Cory Aquino and People Power are one of THE models of peaceful, non-violent democratic change. She is more than an icon of Philippine democracy.
