How to Get in and Out of Legazpi Airport
Legazpi Airport is the primary air gateway of the City of Legazpi, Bicol’s regional capital, and the province of Albay. Located right at the heart of the city, going here isn’t really that hard. It’s only four kilometers from the city center. Plus, you get rewarded with the dominance of the almost symmetrically perfect Mayon Volcano on good days.
The airport has daily flights to and from Manila (which is an hour away-or even less). It also serves flights to and from Cebu several times a week. It is also a drop off and pick up point for those who would like to live the luxury of nearby Misibis Bay.
So, if you’re not really into long bus rides from the capital, here are some tips on how to get in and out of Albay’s main airport:
Getting out of Legazpi Airport:
- Tricycle: There are tricycles lining up at the airport parking area. Going to Daraga, Albay District may cost PhP50.00 fixed rate. If on tight budget, you can share your tricycle ride to divide the cost.
- Taxi: Legazpi has taxi services based on metered service like in Manila and Cebu (PhP40.00 flag down, P3.50 as it runs several meters).
Going to Legazpi Airport:
Heading down to the airport is also easy, due to its proximity from the city. However, it is closer to Daraga and Old Albay District. Tricycles charge PhP50.00 from downtown Legazpi or Daraga, if you want to go directly to the airport (PhP70.00 but negotiable if coming from Embarcadero). However, here’s a tip in saving a bit of your change:

Jeepney routes in Legazpi-Daraga urban area isn’t really that complicated. If you like to get in to airport a bit less on your budget, just take a Daraga or Alternate Route jeep (or even Camalig, Guinobatan for that matter) and drop off at Albay District (or Aquainas Hospital if you are taking the alternate route).
- If you’re checked in at downtown Legazpi (Port District), take a jeepney marked “Alternate Route” or even “Daraga” would be fine. PhP8.00 is the fare (as of 2014 November).
- You can drop off at “Albay,” near the Provincial Capitol when you took the “Daraga” jeep.
- If you’ve taken the “Alternate Route” jeepney, drop off at the corner of Aquainas University Hospital.
- You can take a tricycle from Old Albay or Aquainas Hospital to the Airport for only PhP30.00.
