King Faisal Mosque of MSU

King Faisal Mosque in Mindanao State University
Eid’ Mubarak to all our Muslim brethren!
For Maranaos and Filipinos alike, Marawi City is the center of education, especially when it deals with Bangsamoro culture and Islamic studies (with numerous madrasahs in the area).

Green domes and spires
In the sprawling Mindanao State University (MSU), King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic and Asian Studies served as a vehicle of learning Islamic and Arabic studies, most especially in the Muslim-dominated regions of Southern Philippines. It started as a unit of College of Liberal Arts, it became a separate academic unit and established its own center inside the campus.

The walls of mosque
Along with the center is its crown jewel, King Faisal Mosque. Green domes dominate its roof. On top of these domes are spires that bear the name of Allah.

Bathed in shades of green, the color of Islam, the mosque was built sometime in the 1970s and was named after King Faisal of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who supported the construction and institution of the said Islamic Studies center in Mindanao.

Today, it is a “must-visit” for those who like to have a tour inside MSU’s main campus, aside from Aga Khan Museum.
